Early Intervention
Instructional program for children with disabilities, ages three to five. Instruction, which is developmentally appropriate, includes the family and their needs. Services are provided in facilities operated by day care centers, nursery schools, preschool centers, special education classes or in the children’s homes.

Pre-K Counts
A Pennsylvania Department of Education initiative to provide quality pre-kindergarten programming to children who are three or four years of age, with a focus on children who are at risk for academic failure. All services are free and Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts supports the inclusion of children with diverse needs. The CSIU operates Pre-K Counts programs in the Line Mountain, Shikellamy and Milton school districts.

Pennsylvania Head Start-State Collaboration Office
The purpose of the Head Start-State Collaboration Office is to create a visible partnership at the state level to support the development of multi-agency and public/private partnerships. These partnerships are intended to:

  • Assist in building early childhood systems and access to comprehensive services and support for all low income children.
  • Create opportunities for Head Start to partner with state and local agencies in initiatives that impact children and their families.
  • Facilitate the involvement of Head Start in state and local policies, plans, processes, and decisions affecting children and families.
